Certified Translations

Do you need your documents translated for immigration, academic, financial, professional, or legal purposes such as supporting a formal application? Does the translation need to be official and certified?

Mr Coach is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists (MCIL) and a Chartered Linguist (CL). Certified Translations provided by members of CIOL are widely accepted by UK authorities, including Home Office, HMRC, NARIC, universities, banks, and other official bodies and institutions, as well as consulates and many organisations abroad. We provide certified translations of official documents, from the Polish and Russian languages into English. Depending on the specific requirements of the institution you are submitting your documents to, we can also certify our translations from English and Russian into Polish.

What are certified translations?

In the UK, there is no system of ‘approved’ or ‘sworn’ translators. Instead, many institutions or certain authorities often require that the translation is ‘certified’, which is also known as a ‘certificate of authentication’, ‘statement of truth’, or ‘certificate of accuracy’. The Home Office as well as many other official bodies only accept translations carried out by members of professional associations such as the Chartered Institute of Linguists.

Why do I need a certified translation?

There are many different circumstances in which an authenticated translation of certain documents may be required. Typically, your translated documents will need to be certified in the following situations:

• For immigration reasons such as applying for citizenship, a nationality certificate, residency status, a visa, or when obtaining a passport
• Getting married abroad
• To adopt a child from another country
• Applying for a bank loan to buy property abroad
• Buying or selling property overseas
• Applying for a job abroad
• Applying to a university in a different country
• Changing one’s name legally
• Dealing with the succession of a deceased person
• For tax or insurance purposes
• To receive medical treatment while staying abroad
• To register a company overseas

Certified Translations – the Process

To have your document certified, you will need to scan your documents and e-mail us your request. If you are happy with the quote and the timescale of completion, you will be able to pre-pay for the service online. Once the payment is received, the translation will commence without unnecessary delay.

When the document has been translated and approved, we will provide the client with a statement on the company letterhead paper, containing our CIOL professional badges, and confirm that the translation is a true and accurate version of the original document and has been produced by a fully qualified, professional translator competent in both the source and the target language. The statement, as well as every page of the translation and a copy of the original document, will be dated, stamped, signed, and posted to you. We will also deliver your certified translations as a digital PDF document and replicate the layout and formatting as much as possible.

In certain circumstances, you may need to have your documents notarised or/and legalised (apostilled). Mr Coach can guide you in the process of notarisation and legalisation of your documents. If you need a sworn translation, you will have to contact an officially appointed sworn translator in the country you are submitting your documents to.
